"Bending and scraping and burning and melting and welding and scratching and bowming and woolding and mioyring and wmwmwmorrrring and woaroaroaroaroaroaroaroaroaroaoaroaring and all that good stuff...If you've ever seen Ken Russell's extraordinary film “Altered States” in which William Hurt spends so long inside a series of sensory deprivation tanks that he physically regresses into a monkey, you will be able to imagine the sorts of sounds... these are the sounds your brain starts to make when it hasn't seen, heard, smelt, tasted or felt anything at all during fifteen straight hours of floating in a watery void with only the slight reverberation from your heart for company."

HELM
http://alterstock.blogspot.com
rigorously arranged electro-acoustic constructions that combines surreal Nurse With Wound-style atmospherics with field recordings, tapes and electronics...extremely complex network of intricate layers and mixed sounds. A haunting composition of field recordings, tape loops, percussion, and electronics (among other things) create an extremely tense and daunting audio tapestry which leaves the listener pondering the intense meaning of the sounds chosen. Repeated themes arrive suddenly and then shift into new passages seamlessly creating a surreal environment of confusion and alienation. All of the carefully mixed and slow morphing passages are balanced by surgical editing technique...Soft washes of white noise float delicately on the surface of an infinite curious hum. A sense of unease simultaneously locks in with an aura of beauty, both worlds compromising to share a space with each other in an extended phantom tone.  The long excursion into a wash of calm tone could float away forever, it’s as profound as the discovery of pure silence or the sound of a massive skyscraper collapsing to the ground

ORGONE ACCUMULATORS
electronic surf rock
http://orgoneaccumulators.bandcamp.com
In Boleskine House and environs, on the banks of Loch Ness, the Fifth Neuro Orgone Research Department have been hard at work since 1986 researching the theory that alien communications from Sirius gave humans the technology to create civilisation as we know it 5000 years ago. The past 5 years have been spent looking at the evidence they have found that the Sirius communications also contained transmissions of music. These arcane waves have now been decoded and translated into sounds that human beings can hear. This is a rare opportunity to witness a live presentation of this. Surf rock mixed up with electronics.

"This is nice, you think, nice, a nice man playing the piano, nothing could be nicer than a nice man playing the piano; he's probably got one of those smart suits on with the bits that hang down at the back, very smart, very sensible, very nice. Then after about twenty seconds the nice man reveals himself to be some terrifying, Lovecraftian demon and starts mumbling in a baritone about some terrifying foreign stuff....This is not music to listen to should you ever find yourself walking through Victorian London after dark in the fog because it will almost certainly soundtrack your grisly murder."
There will more than likely be one other act to be confirmed.

new KRALLICE tune

http://stereogum.com/619251/krallice-the-clearing-stereogum-premiere-2/franchises/haunting-the-chapel/

A new Krallice song streaming from Stereogum as of yesterday. Listened to it a fair few times and it's as great as expected. Fingers crossed someone does a nice lavish vinyl version of the new album.

And in related news to my Mick Barr obsession - Orthrelm are playing the Animal Collective ATP. Need to get me some overtime so I can buy a ticket.

Immortal vs Benny Hill

Immortal are a neverending source of amusement. Benny Hill theme tune is genius.

DADA takeaway

I was walking through Sutton a few days ago when I spied this ludicrously named Chinese restaurant. A takeaway readymade if you will. Dada? I dread to think what they might serve up. Oh, and watch out for your overcoat.

Merzbow's Top Ten of 2010 from Art Forum

Being an extremely cultured individual I bought a highbrow art magazine from Tate Modern on my lunchbreak today. Like all magazines at this time of year it's filled with top tens. Loads of art ones in this magazine and people like John Waters doing film top tens. Not overly surprising or particularly out of the ordinary that Masami Akita (aka Merzbow) is asked to give a music rundown of 2010. I can't wait to check out these bands he's talking about like Bring Me The Horizon and Trigger The Bloodshed.

"This past year, I've only listened to and bought music that would be considered deathcore or metalcore"

Here's the list in full:-

1. Maroon - at ACB Hall
2. Maroon - Order
3. The Red Shore - Unconsecrated
4. Trigger The Bloodshed - The Great Depression
5. Veil Of Maya - [Id]
6. Chelsea Grin - Desolation of Eden
7. Son Of Aurelius - The Farthest Reaches
8. Burning The Masses - Offspring Of Time
9. Wrath and Rapture - Wrath and Rapture
10. Bring Me The Horizon - at Studio Coast, Tokyo

Orgone Accumulators - Immanentise the Nesschaton

Orgone Accumulators - Cryptogalactic Nessthetics

ORGONE ACCUMULATORS - CRYPTOGALACTIC NESSTHETICS EP

A brand new EP of synth/techno surf rock from Orgone Accumulators.

It's taken longer than expected for new set of Orgone Accumulators recordings to be released from the Fifth Neuro Orgone Research Department. New discoveries have been made in their building on the shores of Loch Ness. They have been busy translating alien communications from Sirius into a musical form that humans can understand for a while now. The two Orgone Accumulators EPs that have been published so far are the only publicly available examples. Since then there has been an increasing amount of unexplainable interference in the signals. Whilst out diving in the Loch one day Professor De Selby chanced upon the answer coming face to face with a giant waterborn reptile known as Nessie (or rather unfairly, the Loch Ness Monster). Professor De Selby understood that the interference being recorded wasn't interference at all but rather Nessie responding to the millions of years old communications of the Ancient Astronauts from Sirius. Reconstituting the recent recordings through some pieces of extremely hi-tech equipment was a revelation. The 'guitar' sound being emitted had become more twangy and surf rock sounding. The research team demanded a celebration and Professor De Selby got busy making up a batch of his legendary 'mature in a week' Whisky. They were all a bit too sloshed to bother about getting these new recordings into the public domain but finally they're hear and ready for you to listen to - 14.5 minutes of communications between Nessie and Ancient Astronauts from Sirius rendered into a sound suitable for the human palette - synthy/techno surf rock.
